Description
Eurosearch are actively seeking experienced individuals to work on a permanent staff basis for our global client.
The Second Officer is responsible to the Chief Officer. The Second Officer may be employed as DP Operator, watchkeeper or on day work duties, as required by the Chief Officer or ship manning levels / operations and to carry out duties depending on ship manning/operational requirements.
Duties
* Act as DP watchkeeper when required.
* Act as watchkeeper when vessel is in conventional mode and to prepare the Bridge(s) for sea as required by statute.
* Ensure all navigational equipment is functioning correctly and to report equipment defects.
* Act as Navigation Officer for chart work, passage planning etc., ensuring that all navigational and cable charts, and navigational publications, are corrected up to date and that navigational warnings are displayed.
* Assist with familiarisation lectures to new personnel.
* Assist Chief Officer with first aid matters relating to medical stores / equipment, also be responsible for checking medical certificates of all personnel on board.
* Assist Safety Officer in his duties, by regular updating of displayed safety posters, distribution of safety information, and maintenance of safety standards.
* Assist in any paperwork which may be required by Customers / Charterers Company etc.
* Advise the Chief Officer of any spare deck gear requirements.
* Ensure that work done under his control for the Deck Department is adequately supervised and carried out in a safe manner, without contravention of applicable rules and regulations, and is done as per the Code of Safe Working Practices. The Second Officer is accountable to the Chief Officer for the discipline of ship's staff under this control.
* Comply with Company and Statutory safety of navigation and watchkeeping guidelines.
* Carry out cable operations as per Masters Execution Plan.
* Be prepared to adopt other duties within remit of multi-skilling objectives as agreed and advised prior to appointment.

• STCW’95 11/1 Deck OOW unlimited = Class 3
• Advanced Fire fighting

• Good understanding of spoken and written English
